Storage lockers have two very important features. They help to store and safeguard your important items. There are many different types of storage lockers in the market and each of them has their own unique features and properties. There will be one type that suit your needs more than the others, but underlying question is how to choose the right storage locker.

How to Determine If You Need Storage Lockers in Your Home

First of all, you have to determine if you need a storage locker or a storage cabinet. Storage lockers are more common in commercial, industrial and institutional environments. For residential usage, you can make do with storage cabinets. But there are also scenarios when you need storage lockers to keep the dangerous items away from children, or to store your garage tools outside your garage.

Here are a few tips to help you purchase the right storage lockers

  • Keep your children safe from medicine and flammable items. Buy a flammable storage locker to store all these items. You can also consider wall mounted storage lockers to give you the height advantage over your children.
  • Minimize the number of storage lockers in your house. Some items are safe enough to be stored in storage cabinets. You don't want to end up fumbling with a bunch of storage locker keys when you need an item urgently.
  • Keep the storage locker keys in a safe and accessible area. You probably want to hide these keys from your kids in a secret place, but it might backfire when you forget where you hide your keys. This has happened to me a few times, and I find the best solution is to lock all the keys in a drawer and keep the drawer key with me all the time.
  • Lastly, check if you really need storage lockers outside your home. These apply to storing items outside your house, such as bicycles and garage tools. For example, bicycles are quite safe outside your home, and you do not need to spend your money buying bike storage lockers. I would recommend a large bulk storage locker outside your garage if you run out of garage space.

Types of Storage Lockers for Commercial and Residential usage

  • The first type of storage locker is the bulk storage locker. These lockers are build with a meshed and cage-like look. Therefore, you are able to see what are the inside contents. These lockers are great for storing large and bulky items, or creating additional storage space outside your house. They are used for creating security enclosure in commercial areas.
  • The second type of storage lockers are the sports storage lockers. These lockers are catered for commercial sport usage, and they can be tailored to suit specific sports. They are normally used for storing individual athlete's items, and they are compartmentalized to fit clothes, helmets, and shoes.
  • The third type of lockers are the steel storage lockers. These lockers are build with a strong structure they are widely used for storing heavy tools, and equipments. Their shelves are adjustable to provide extra flexibility in organizing the storage space.
  • The fourth type of storage lockers are the flammable storage lockers. These lockers are mostly available in bright yellow and red colors, with the words "flammable" printed on the doors. They are used for storing all hazardous liquids and materials in a secured place to minimize risks.
  • The fifth type of lockers are the mobile storage lockers. These lockers are fixed with casters and they are commonly used as a temporary storage solution. They are available in many different size, ranging from double door lockers to counter height lockers.
  • The sixth type of lockers are the see through storage lockers. These lockers provide content visibility for the users to facilitate the searching process. These lockers are commonly used for storing files and documents.
  • The last type of lockers are the wall mounted storage lockers. These lockers are popular for freeing up additional floor space which can be used for placing other items. The extra floor space also makes cleaning easier.
